The in-between. The cusp of one year closing and another beginning. With each year I slow more. Push is leaving my vocabulary and Presence has replaced it. The practice of yoga strengthens our capacity to be in this life. Through the highs and lows.
TRUST, not calm, is the opposite of worry and anxiety. Not pretending the storm isn’t real. It’s the willingness to stay and allow yourself to be. Think of the moments you thought it was over. The ending, the loss, the unravelling. And still, something carried you forward. Not where you planned, but where you needed to go.
Those moments rarely felt calm. But trust was there. Shaky, subtle, still breathing. The kind that says, I don’t know how this will unfold, but something meaningful is happening.
In yoga, this is Ishvara Pranidhana: surrender. Not giving up, but giving in. To life. To timing. To what’s underneath the noise.
Off the mat, trust shows up in ordinary moments. In the waiting, uncertainty, a nervous system on edge. Worry, fear and anxiety try to protect you through control. But trust comes from presence.
From breathing instead of bracing.
From staying soft when you want to tighten.
From letting sensation move without fixing it.
Trust isn’t found. It’s your practice. Again, and again.
Each time you unclench the jaw. Each time you return to here. The body learns: this isn’t danger, just transition.
This is where trust lives. Not in the absence of fear, but in your willingness to meet it. To stay. To soften. To live fully, open and aware.
Allow yourself to soften and surrender with trust to be, rather than the anxiety and push of everything else. I am grateful to have shared the journey with you in 2025 and look forward to continuing to share the practice of yoga with you in 2026.
