Ai - Tawa Yoga Teacher

Ai

Personal mantra:
Stand tall, trust in your becoming. Everything you need is within you.

What to expect in my yoga classes:
Joy, playfulness, laughter, warmth and heart to guide, support and champion you on your journey.

Off the mat I am happiest when:
I’m barefoot in the garden, on the beach or in nature. Quietly listening to the harmony of the earth.

I jam to:
All music across the ages from the 1950’s to today. I can get lost in Tribal Beats, Old Skool Hip Hop and classic power ballads.

Kristy - Tawa Yoga Teacher

Kristy

Personal mantra:
Smile, breathe and go slowly.

What to expect in my yoga classes:
Lots of giggles to bring you back into the moment.

Off the mat I am happiest when:
I’m dancing! Whether that’s with earphones in dancing around my bedroom or at a dance class.

I jam to:
A lot of electronic music, but still love bangers from the early 2000’s.

Kellie

Personal mantra:
There is strength in softness.

What to expect in my yoga classes:
Inclusive, welcoming classes with options for every body. Expect a well-rounded flow that weaves breath, movement, mind and soul together – sprinkled with the occassional uplifting spiritual quote.

Off the mat I am happiest when:
I’m immersed in nature – swimming in the ocean, hiking through the bush, or simply feeling the earth beneath my feet.

I jam to:
Everything! It’s all about the mood: I unwind with the ethereal sounds of Yaima, sing my heart out to pop-country gems (Gaudion, Shaboozey & friends), vide to chill house like Hot Shade and Lavern, and can’t resist a full-on dance party to a classic 90’s playlist.

Keira - Tawa Yoga Teacher

Keira

Personal mantra:
“Self-love and believing in yourself gives you the power and courage to change your life.” ~ Amanda Ray.

What to expect in my yoga classes:
In my vinyasa flow yoga class, you will find playful movement to flow through poses, connected with the breath, connected to yourself, I would like everyone to get the most out of every pose by making it their own and creating a mind body connection. Let Yoga be your best friend. Yoga is love!

Off the mat I am happiest when:
Drawing, art is another way to express my feelings and passion. Yoga & Art linked together that makes you connected with your soul and your breath. Drawing requires a lot of patience and concentration, to reflect on my thoughts and ideas and give me inner peace! It provides a sense of satisfaction to the soul – The art of Mediation!

I jam to:
Pop remix!
Devika - Tawa Yoga Teacher

Devika

Personal mantra:
Everything is Perfect. Everything can be improved.

What to expect in my yoga classes:
Drawing from my experience of more than a decade of self practice, we will explore asanas in a fun & accessible manner. I use the principles of vinyasa krama to design my yoga classes – starting with Breath awareness, a good warm up, moving through a variety of postures that will challenge you, strengthen you and create more mobility and end with a relaxing Savasana.

Off the mat I am happiest when:
I am outdoors, spending time with friends & family.

I jam to:
Good vibes and uplifting beats.
Kerrie - Tawa Yoga Teacher

Kerrie

Personal mantra:
Wherever you go, there you are! Not my words but I live by this.

What to expect in my yoga classes:
Steady paced flows with a focus on strength, breath and mindful movement. Space to explore the nuances of a pose fully. I encourage the practice of ‘being’ rather than ‘getting to’.

Off the mat I am happiest when:
Spending time with my daughter and husband; eating good food, drinking good wine and watching anything sci-fi/fantasy related.

I jam to:
70’s rock, strong female singers and at the moment… the Frozen II soundtrack it seems.

Either just simply AUM, or something traditional like aum mani padme hum.

What to expect in my yoga classes:
Something different every time, but a class guided by the breath with the flexibility to make it work for however you have shown up to class.

Personal mantra:

I love mantras and quotes! I resonate with so many, varying at different seasons of life. Here are some that have been consistent over the years :

Magic happens outside of the comfort zone”.   “There is a lesson in everything and if you don’t learn the lessons, they keep repeating themselves in different ways”.  “Leave it better than you found it

And I love Albert Einsteins quote “Everything is energy, that’s is all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. This is not philosophy. This is physics.”

What to expect in my yoga classes:

My classes vary depending on the style of yoga, however I like to think I stay consistent in my intentions as a yoga teacher. My intentions are to guide students through their yoga practice, to leave them feeling physically and emotionally nourished.

I emphasise the importance of focusing their awareness inwards, to improve self and body awareness, to align with their practices’ intentions, whilst making them feel safe to explore new asanas, improve alignment, mobility, strength and tap into the many other benefits of practicing yoga.

Overall, It’s my hope that my yoga classes are an act of self care for students and that they leave feeling better than they arrived.

Off the mat I am happiest when:

Being in nature on a sunny day! I find so much joy in spending time with my family, friends, going for hikes, listening/dancing to music, travelling, being creative, listening to podcasts and slowing down to enjoy the simple things in life.

I jam to:

Electronic dance music! Though I appreciate most genres of music.
